What is Diocesan Convention?

Established in 1975, Diocesan Convention is the annual business meeting of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego and acts as the primary legislative body of the Diocese. It’s a time when clergy and laypeople from all over the diocese come together to vote on an annual budget, to elect officers, and to hear reports of work from diocesan programs. But more importantly, we join together, worship together, learn together, and discern together--reflecting on becoming a better people of God.

Where will we meet?

This Fall, Diocesan Convention will be held in-person at St. Margaret’s Palm Desert. Delegates will have access to an online portal that has all of the (normally printed) materials for convention. The Diocesan Staff is working hard to ensure that delegates have all the tools needed to fully participate in Diocesan Convention.

Will there be Eucharist?

Diocesan Convention will have an opening Eucharist. If you are interested in participating as a reader or musician in the convention worship service, please contact Director of Communications, Chris Tumilty.

Will there be a virtual option?

Yes, visitors will have the option to participate virtually through the diocesan Youtube channel. Delegates are required to attend Convention in person to participate. For more information about watching Convention online, Director of Communications, Chris Tumilty.

Who can attend Diocesan Convention?

Everyone is welcome to attend Convention.

Is there a Youth Delegation this year?

Yes with more information to be announced soon.

How does voting work?
